Pregnancy Books

Here are the pregnancy books I am using/find useful:
1) Your Pregnancy: week to week by Glade B. Curtis, M.D., M,P,H. and Judith Schuler, M.S.

Your Pregnancy Week by Week [Book]
-This is super detailed and is just a week to week book.  It has exercises for each week and talks about all medical conditions you or your baby could face and also tests your doctor may ask you about.  It is very thorough and informative.
2) Pregnancy Childbirth and the Newborn: The Complete Guide by Penny Simkin, PT, Janet Whalley, RN, IBCLC, Ann Keppler, RN, MN, Janelle Durham, MSW, ICCE, LCCE, and April Bolding, PT, DPT, CD, CCE.
Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn (4th Edition): The Complete Guide [Book]
   -  This I consider a must have.  I have the 4th edition.  1/3 is on pregnancy, 1/3 is on labor, and 1/3 is for after the baby arrives.  It is SUPER informative and I HIGHLY recommend getting a copy.

Baby Gear List

Here is a look at my baby gear list.  In my actual list I put in cost estimates for each item, section, and a grand total.  I'm sure it will change still.  I have crossed some things off.  Every time I cross things off I change the grand total and the total cost for that section to keep up to date.  I also put a star next to things I don't think I'll need right away and two stars next to things I will want around before the baby comes.  Some of the little things don't have prices and some of the things we're probably getting from someone else is not priced either.

Other Items You Won’t Need Right Away:
  • High Chair.
  • ExerSaucer.  These are huge, garish, plastic and generally an eye soar, but they’re so very useful.
Books to Read:
·       Books to read with baby*
Other To Dos:
  • Take Prenatal Classes.  Ask your OB to direct you to these resources.
  • Research Cord Blood Banking.  It might be something you and your partner want to do.
  • Add infant to health insurance.
  • Make initial pediatrician appointment when baby is born. The babe will need to be seen in the first week of leaving the hospital.  I got a pediatrician recommendation from my OB.  Some people interview new pediatricians while they’re still pregnant.  Not my style.  I just figure that if I don’t like her, I’ll switch to a different one. It turns out we love our pediatrician.
  • Get announcements ready before baby is born by figuring out from where you’re going to order them. If you’re really on top of your game, you can get the envelopes early and address them.
  • Create a call/email list so everyone can hear the good news.
